Suspects Charged In Macomb Township Man's Murder
Two men are charged with second degree murder while a third suspect is charged with lying to police in connection with the case.

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, MI — Two men have been charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of a 55-year-old Macomb Township man.
Jack Kitchen was found in a township field injured and unable to speak on Oct. 5 at 7:40 a.m., according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. He died of his injuries on Oct. 25.
Nicholas Riddle, 38, and Jamel Bentley, 29, both of Macomb Township, were charged Tuesday with second degree murder at 41-A District Court in Shelby Township, police said. If convicted, both men will spend up to life in prison.

Riddle and Bentley received bonds of $250,000. Probable cause hearings will be held at the district court on Nov. 9, police said.

Also charged in connection with Kitchen’s death is 17-year-old Teri Beals, also from Macomb Township. She was arraigned on one count of lying to a police officer, a felony, on Oct. 12 at the district court and given a $2,000 bond.

The Sheriff’s Office received a tip that several people were involved in an assault on Kitchen. An investigation followed and multiple search warrants were conducted.
Three suspects were taken subsequently taken into custody. Prior to Kitchen’s death, Riddle and Bentley were charged with lesser counts, police said.
