Towing Company Head Pleads Guilty In Macomb Bribery Case

Grosse Pointe Shores Towing Magnate Gaspar Fiore Faces Five Year Sentence

Yesterday, Grosse Pointe Shores towing company head Gasper Fiore pleaded guilty to bribing a Macomb County official into awarding him a contract. Appearing in in U.S. District Court in Port Huron Dec 20, Fiore acknowledged bribing former Clinton Township Trustee Dean Reynolds, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Fiore, indicted a year ago along with Metro Detroit trash tycoons Chuck Rizzo, Jr and Chuck Rizzo, Sr, ex-Macomb County Public Works Commissioner Anthony Marrocco, Macomb Trustee Dino Bucci, and more than a dozen other defendants, faces sentencing May 1, 2018, and could spend up to five years in prison.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Chuck Rizzo, Jr, may have used some of his share of profits from the scheme to pay for two Bloomfield Hills mansions, one he lived in and was extensively renovating when he was indicted, and an adjacent home. According to the Freep, “Rizzo paid $2.4 million for the mansion next door to his. That house is 6,900 square feet with seven bathrooms.”

“Today’s guilty plea is a significant blow to corruption in southeast Michigan," acting U.S. Attorney Daniel Lemisch said in a statement. "Bribery subverts representative government, and this conviction demonstrates that such conduct, by either public officials or bribe payers, will not be tolerated.”
