Walk For Warmth Event Raises Funds For Struggling Macomb County Residents
Money raised by the Walk For Warmth run/walk helps deserving Macomb County residents with heat-related emergencies i.e. paying utility bill.
MACOMB COUNTY, MI — Get out your sneakers! There's still time to register for the Macomb Community Action 27th Annual Walk for Warmth event on Saturday, Feb. 18, according to a press release.
The event has raised over $720,000 throughout the years to help Macomb families stay warm during frigid Michigan winters. Walk For Warmth funds help low-income Macomb residents with heat-related emergencies, including paying utility bills or replacing a broken furnace.
Rhonda Powell, director of Macomb Community Action, said in a statement, "There are thousands of Macomb County residents that are in urgent need of heat-related assistance. This is why all donations, big or small, are very important. Without partners like Macomb Mall, who donated the use of their space, and our financial and in-kind sponsors, this event wouldn’t be the asset that it is today.”
