2 Die In Wednesday Night Crash In Chesterfield Township: PD
Two people died Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash on 23 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township, police said.
CHESTERFIELD TWP., MI — Two people died Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash on 23 Mile Road in Chesterfield Township, police said.
Chesterfield Township Police said David Vasilevski, 21, of Chesterfield Township and the passenger of the vehicle he was driving, 22-year-old Ashley Machuta, of New Baltimore, both died at the scene of a two-car crash Wednesday night. The driver of the second vehicle involved, a 19-year-old Macomb Township man, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said.
Police and fire crews were dispatched to 23 Mile Road, west of Seaden Drive, around 8:53 p.m. Wednesday for what was reported as a serious traffic crash. When police arrived, they said they found a heavily damaged 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 and a heavily damaged 2005 Cadillac CTS-V, with debris from the crash blocking all lanes of 23 Mile Road.

Police closed 23 Mile Road for more than three hours to investigate the crash.
Crash investigators said that the driver of the Cadillac lost control of the vehicle on a wet roadway while driving west on 23 Mile Road, crossed the center turn lane and collided with the Dodge, which was traveling east on 23 Mile Road.

Police said it is unknown if speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
