
Thursday marked the area’s tenth day high temperatures below 20 degrees. With temperatures predicted to fall as low as -20 degrees by the morning, the Anchor Bay School District announced the cancellation of Friday classes yesterday night. According to the schools’ webpage: “All schools are closed Friday January 5th due to inclement weather.”
After nearly two weeks of arctic blast temperatures, Anchor Bay joins schools across Metro Detroit and beyond that announced closures. Temperatures have hovered around zero for ten days, causing two tragic deaths when elderly women with demential wandered into the snow and succumbed to the cold in Roseville and Shelby Township earlier this week.
