Anchor Bay High Student May Face Charges Over Threat
Police say a 15-year-old Anchor Bay High School student made a non-credible threat against the school.

Anchor Bay High School abruptly canceled classes Friday, sending students home at 10:30 a.m. after receiving a threat against the school. When school officials received anonymous reports that a group of teens had been overheard discussing “shooting up a class,” the decision was made to dismiss early, according to The Voice Newspapers.
According to police, the anonymous tip, made to the state’s OK2SAY program, turned out to be non-credible. St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputy Larry Fajardo, the school’s full-time resource officer, quickly identified a male suspect, who led police to a second teen, a 15-year-old Anchor Bay student. Police questioned the boy, releasing him after determining there wasn’t a credible threat to the school.
This incident is the latest in a rash of threats against schools in the area, including three in the last week alone, since a school shooting incident at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida made national news February 14. Seventeen people were killed in that incident, sparking a national walkout by school children in March, and Saturday’s March for Our Lives, which drew an estimated 800,000 protesters to Washington D.C.
