“This new clinic is a win-win for our dental hygiene students and for the community,” said Patricia A. Kaufman, Ed.D., Baker College of Clinton Township president. “The hands-on training is extremely important to the students who will be job-ready at graduation, while the public receives quality, affordable dental care in a state-of-the-art facility.”
The clinic is open January through August, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Charges for dental services are nominal and help to cover the clinic’s operating costs. Fees range from $5 for fluoride application to $60 for periodontal scaling/root planing. Dental X-rays average $20-$30 while adult cleanings are $30 and cleanings for children ages 3-14 are $20.
To make an appointment, call 586.790.5238. Longer appointments are to be expected due to the educational nature of the clinic. Insurance cannot be accepted, and payment is required at the time of treatment.
The dental hygiene program has been offered at the Clinton Township campus since 2015. Its state-of-the-art facility is the result of a 32,000-square-foot-building renovation which now provides classrooms, laboratories and a 20-patient care clinic with the latest in dental equipment and technologies.
Baker College's dental hygiene program is accredited by the American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation. Courses and patient care appointments are under the direct supervision of licensed dentists and dental hygienists.
Graduates will be prepared to take the national and regional board examinations to become licensed dental hygienists (RDH). Upon successful completion of the exams, graduates are qualified for entry-level positions in a number of settings, including private dental offices, schools, public health clinics, hospitals, correctional institutions and nursing homes.
