Michigan National Guard Soldier Receives Meritorious Service Medal

Maj. Rodger Jackson of Macomb County has been awarded a Meritorious Service Medal for service as the command surgeon for Task Force 46.

He is currently assigned to the Lansing-based Michigan National Guard, 46th Military Police Command and has been a Michigan Guardsman since 2001 following his U.S. Army service that began in 1989.

Jackson served as the senior medical advisor to the 46th MP CMD during a 200-person contingency headquarters element validation for responding to Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) emergencies and catastrophic disasters within the United States. He supervised the medical plans and operations staff responsible for coordinating with federal, state, and Department of Defense medical agencies during the validation. His efforts directly contributed to his unit’s emergency preparedness efforts and to the 46th MP CMD success over the last 24 months.

Jackson has been reassigned to the Office of the State Surgeon, Michigan National Guard Joint Forces Headquarters in Lansing effective April 1. His responsibilities will include medical readiness activities for the Michigan Army National Guard and planning for Operation Northern Exposure, a large-scale, international emergency preparedness exercise taking place in multiple locations across Michigan in June 2015.

In his civilian life, Jackson is the Senior Staff Emergency Physician and Observation Unit Medical Director for the Henry Ford Medical Group. He and his wife Melissa have four children.
