
A police chase through New Baltimore and Chesterfield Township early Tuesday ended with the arrest of a 33-year-old Detroit man after he allegedly stole tires from a vehicle just hours earlier.
Derrick Lamar Brown, who is already on parole, was seen on Brennen Road in New Baltimore between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. allegedly stealing tires of a vehicle, according to a report in the Macomb Daily.
A resident shouted at the suspect to stop, which forced Brown to flee the scene in a pickup truck at a high rate of speed.

Brown’s path led down I-94. where police employed the use of stop sticks. Brown exited the highway and continued down 21 Mile Road, entering a subdivision and driving across lawns and eventually struck a Chesterfield Township police car.
The chase ended of Farwell, where he attempted to flee on foot, but was chased down by officers hiding in a backyard.

It was later discovered the vehicle Brown was fleeing in was stolen earlier in Sterling Heights.
Brown was charged with fleeing and eluding a police officer-second degree, a 10-year felony; receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, a 5-year felony; larceny from a motor vehicle, a 5-year felony and operating with a suspended license, a 93-day misdemeanor.
He was arraigned via video in the 42-2 District Court and his bond was set at $20,000 cash. He is currently in the Macomb County Jail.
