New Baltimore Police Chief Tim Wiley is stepping down from his position to join the FBI’s Detroit field office.
According to a Macomb Daily report, the chief was offered a position with the FBI shortly after graduating from the organization’s national academy earlier in 2015.
“It’s a great opportunity for him,” New Baltimore Mayor John Dupray told the Macomb Daily.
Wiley has served as Chief of Police since 2010 and has been with the police department for nearly two decades.
Official announcement of the resignation will come at the New Baltimore City Council’s Nov. 9 meeting. An interim chief is expected to be named at that time, and the search for a new chief will begin.
