18-Year-Old Farmington Hills Woman Arrested on Charges of Check Fraud

Northville Township police arrested an 18-year-old Farmington Hills woman Jan. 16 on charges of trying to cash a fraudulent check at a Northville Township bank, according to a police report.

The woman attempted to cash a check for $1,758.13 at Huntington National Bank, 44190 Five Mile Road, but an employee noticed several inconsistencies on it, the report said. A security features disclosure that was supposed to be on the side of a real check appeared on the bottom of the woman’s check, according to the report. The check also read "The Huntington National" instead of "The Huntington National Bank."  

The woman said her friend gave her the check to cash, according to the report. Police arrested her on charges of uttering and publishing. She paid a $300 cash bond and has a hearing Feb. 5, the report said.
