8 Places To Be for Halloween, The Weekend in Northville

Patch is here to make your life ridiculously easy, so as you sit down today and plan your Halloween and weekend activities, here are eight events you should know about in Northville.

1. Fire Station Open House

When: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday
Where: City of Northville Fire Station
What: Northville's firefighters will pass out free hot cider, fresh donuts and popcorn at their annual Halloween open house

2. Trick or Treating, Costume Contest

When: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday
Where: Northville Community Center, 303 West Main St.
What: Take a stroll a couple of doors down Main Street to the Northville Community Center, 303 West Main St., for trick or treating. Stay for the costume contest at 7:30 p.m.

3. Annual Northville High School Drama Club Haunted House

When: 4:30 p.m. Thursday (also Friday and 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday)
Where: Northville High School Auditorium, 45700 Six Mile Road
What: Admission is $5. The Zombie Prison will be scaring its victims until 9pm and is recommended for ages 12+

4. The Village Workshop Sneak Peek Halloween Party

When: 8 p.m. Thursday
Where: 455 East Cady St. 
What: Join us after trick or treat for some Halloween Fun.  Free food, drinks, live band, and preview of The Village Workshop.  Have you ever seen a real 3d printer?  How about a laser engraver?  The Village Workshop will be a community workspace for creators, artists, inventors, and everyone else!   Come see what The Village Workshop will be bringing to Northville in 2014.

5. Clothes Drive for Homeless in Detroit

When: 9 a.m. Saturday to noon Sunday
Where: First Presbyterian Church Northville - 200 East Main St.
What: Drop off any clean and gently used WARM clothing and outerwear for the Fort Street Presbyterian Open Door Ministry in Detroit. We are also collecting blankets, sheets, pillows, towels and tote bags as well as new socks and underwear.

6. Kidpreneur Video Production Workshop

When: 9 a.m. Saturday
Where: 235 East Main St. Suite #104, Northville
What: In this Kidpreneur Video Production workshop, kids aged 10-14 will create a movie using  Microsoft Live MovieMaker and Apple iMovie to make a promotion/business introduction video with titles, audio and music. 

7. First Saturday Hike - Fall Colors

When: 11 a.m. Saturday
Where: Maybury State Park
What: Join the Friends of Maybury for their monthly First Saturday Hike. The topic in November will be fall colors, and hopefully there will still be plenty of leaves left on the trees.  

8. "Rockabully" Chili Cookoff to Benefit the Detroit Bulldog Rescue

When: 4 p.m. Sunday
Where: Northville Community Center - 303 West Main St.
What: Join us for what is sure to be an annual event - Our "Rockabully" Chili Cookoff! ALL of our net proceeds will go to benefit our rescue! Taste over 15 chili samples, enjoy a bowl of your favorite chili, and grab a beer! We'll have freshly baked breads, cornbread, cookies and more available at our bake sale table.
