Washington, DC - During its annual gala the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) presented its 2012 Leadership in Public Service Award to U.S. Representative Thaddeus G. McCotter (MI-11). CHLI is a non-profit, nonpartisan organization advancing the diversity of thought in the U.S. Hispanic Community in the public, private, and non-profit sectors, as well as throughout the international community.
The Hon. Lincoln DÃaz-Balart (M.C., Ret.), CHLI Board Chairman, said:Â "CHLI is privileged to honor a public servant of truly extraordinary talent and patriotism, Congressman Thad McCotter of Michigan, with our 2012 Leadership in Public Service Award."

Tonight's dinner was emceed by Award winning Univision journalist and recipient of eleven Emmy awards, Teresa Rodriguez.
Previous CHLI leadership award recipients include President Felipe Calderón of Mexico, His Excellency President Ma Ying-Jeou of the Republic of China (Taiwan), former Prime Minister of Spain Jose MarÃa Aznar, former Speaker of the House of Representatives Dennis Hastert, Senator Robert Menéndez (NJ), and former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutiérrez. CHLI’s annual gala will also include the presence of numerous Members of Congress from both political parties.
