State Sen. Colbeck, Rep. Heise Donate Flag to Northville Cemetery for Memorial Day

State Rep. Kurt Heise (R-Plymouth) and Sen. Patrick Colbeck (R-Canton) have donated a new U.S. flag to the Northville Cemetery to be formally unveiled for Memorial Day ceremonies this weekend.

The lawmakers learned that the cemetery's old flag was torn and ragged, and decided to donate a new flag to be ready for this weekend.

"Local veterans deserve to be honored with a flag that is neither torn nor tattered," said Heise.  "Veterans have done so much for us.  I'm honored to help play a small role in improving this weekend's important ceremonies."

Heise and Colbeck both plan to attend the Northville Cemetery Memorial Day Weekend ceremony.

"Although Memorial Day is an important time for reflection, we should honor and remember veterans every day," said Colbeck.  "I'd like to thank all veterans for their service.  We are able to enjoy our freedoms today because of their tremendous sacrifices."
