Spring forward and reach for the stars in the 4th annual music and dance performance competition: Talent for the Title, hosted by Broughton Music & Art Center, and Starring
“The Gallery”.
Last year’s Talent for the Title event proved to be an exciting new addition to the Northville experience. This year’s Talent for the Title aims to exceed last year’s expectations and to wow the crowd with our local talent! Applications are available now for vocalists, singer/songwriters, instrumentalists, solo, duo/trio, band, dance solo, duo, trio & group. All interested competitors will need to submit an application and audition tape May 10, 2012. Judges will select finalists to compete in a series of public performances throughout the historic city of Northville.
The final showcase will take place on the first Friday of June (June 1, 2012) to help kick off the Friday Night Concert Series in Town Square, located on Main Street in Downtown Northville (between Center Street and Griswold). Laurie Jarski of Broughton Music & Art Center, and Mary Starring of Starring “The Gallery” will serve as the co-chairs of this event.
“Everyone is mesmerized by the talent displayed on Dancing With The Stars, American Idol and other star search programs. We see amazing talent day after day in our studios,” Terri Irrer of Miss Harriet’s Dance Studio notes. “It’s time we showcase that talent and have a little fun.”

Laurie Jarski agrees: “There is so much talent throughout the state of Michigan. Northville is home to a world-class music school, a 60-year old dance studio, a professional theater, a dinner theater and a children’s theater within one square mile. It’s only natural to bring extraordinary talent to a town dedicated to the performing arts.” Mary Starring adds, “Northville is being recognized throughout the state as a community of artists. The First Friday Art Walk has become a terrific event that brings visitors from all over to our town to enjoy a unique evening filled with fabulous art and a heartwarming hometown atmosphere.”
On Thursday, May 24, 2012 and Friday, May 25, 2012 there
will be exciting elimination rounds at Genitti’s Hole-In-The-Wall Theatre in Northville. The finalists will be narrowed down for a performance showcase that promises to be as exciting and entertaining as any nationalized television program. Live in Northville on June 1, 2012 a host of prominent judges will be on hand to crown the winners. The most exciting element to the evening will be the opportunity for audience members to participate in selecting the junior and senior Talent for the Title!
The title brings with them: a cash prize, photo shoot, performance opportunities and an artisan designed trophy. Details (including rules) will be available at the participating sponsors or by contacting the Talent for the Title hotline at Broughton Music & Art Center at 248-374-5596 or visiting the website talentforthetitle.com.
