The Northville Twp. Beautification Commission has set Saturday, Sept. 22, for its Third Annual Shred-It Event. This will take place 9-11 a.m. in the Northville Twp. Hall parking lot at the southwest corner of Six Mile and Sheldon.
The minimum charge of $3 per car will allow people to safely and securely dispose of six bags of documents. There will be an additional charge of 50 cents for each bag beyond those six.
Documents will be accepted in paper bags only. No plastic bags will be accepted.
Motorists should enter off Sheldon Road only. There will be two lanes: an express lane where drivers can pay and leave the bags, and a second lane where the motorists will be able to wait and watch their documents actually being shredded in the trucks.
Last year 273 motorists went through the lines and were able to safely dispose of 7.5 tons of identification-sensitive papers. That was 15,000 pounds of paper that was sold to paper and card companies and did not end up in landfills.
