Sincock to Join Chamber of Commerce

Parks and Recreation Director Traci Sincock will be retiring from the department at the end of December.

"The city and township have seen lots of changes in the last 25 years and I'm thrilled to have been a part of that," she said.

She will be leaving the position – which operates under both the city and township – in December for an assistant director position at the Chamber of Commerce.

Sincock added that she is glad to continue serving the community, though in a new capacity.

City manager Patrick Sullivan said that an interim director will be hired internally, from within Parks and Recreation, to assume the position while a replacement is sought. He added that interviews for the position will be conducted next week.

Northville City Police Now on Nixle, Free Public Alert System

The city police department announced yesterday that it will begin using an alert system called Nixle.

The system will allow the police to quickly issue alerts to the public of all kinds, including traffic information, missing persons and warnings among other things. To get the alerts, Northville residents can visit Nixle and sign up for a free account.

Nixle will send the police department's alerts via text message or email within one-quarter of a mile of the address submitted for registration.

"It's a great way to keep the community informed," Police Chief Gary Goss said. "It's secure and it's of no cost to anyone."

Currently, the township police issues alerts through the Nixle system.
