Letter to the Editor: Vote 'Yes' on Proposal 4 in Michigan

Michigan families have a vital opportunity to establish quality home nursing care for their loved ones in need by voting Yes on Proposal 4.

To help families understand the true value of Proposal 4, it would:

Find out what's happening in Northvillefor free with the latest updates from Patch.

  • Establish the Michigan Quality Home Care Council, which would oversee a registry to link home care recipients with pre-screened home care providers in their area.
  • Give home care providers access to critical job training, so they can better care for seniors and people with disabilities.
  • Save taxpayer dollars by avoided nursing home costs, since home care is much less expensive to taxpayers than nursing homes, according to the AARP and Anderson Economic Group.

This is why senior groups such as the Michigan Area Agency on Aging, Michigan Alliance for Retired Americans; disability groups like MS Society, The Arc of Michigan, Michigan Disability Rights Coalition; and law enforcement officials like Wayne County Sheriff Benny Napoleon and Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper support Proposal 4.

Please vote Yes Proposal 4 for quality home nursing care in Michigan.
