Northville Brothers Raise $5K for Children's Miracle Network
Akhil and Abhinav Alluri organized their own golf fund-raiser Tuesday.
Northville's Alluri brothers spent their day off from school Tuesday playing golf and supporting uninsured kids at their second golf marathon.Â
Akhil, Northville High School junior, and Abhinav Alluri, eighth grade student at Meads Mill Middle School, raised $5,500 for the Children's Miracle Network and its work at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.Â
They presented the check to Matt Romkey, Children's Miracle Network associate director, after playing a 54-hole golf marathon at the Northville Hills Golf Club. See the photos above.

Akhil Alluri organized his first golf fund-raiser last year after tearing a ligament while playing golf took a physical and emotional toll on him. He wanted to use his love of the sport to help others and raised more than $5,100 for the Children's Miracle Network.Â
"I realized that although I was limited in my abilities with the injury, I am still fortunate compared to the many kids battling life threatening illnesses," he tells his supporters.Â

Srinivasa Alluri, the boys' father, said they want to thank friends, family, neighbors, classmates and golf teammates for their generous support, without which this would not have been possible. Â
