Northville IB Diploma Program Advances Closer to Authorization
A verification team's visit to Northville High School will determine if the international baccalaureate program is approved.

Northville High School is getting closer to officially authorizing its International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP).Â
According to the district superintendent's newsletter published in November, a verification team from IB DP visited Northville High School and the Northville community recently to follow up on the district’s Application for Authorization, which was submitted in April.Â

Superintendent Mary K. Gallagher said in the newsletter that the IB DP team met with administrators at the high school and the district leadership team along with other groups.Â
"From these conversations and explorations, the IB DP verification team will report its findings to IB regarding whether Northville High School is ready to be authorized as an IB DP School," Gallagher said in the newsletter.Â

District expects verification visit for IB Middle Years Program next year
The district submitted in October its Application for Authorization to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Program to all sixth through 10th grade students.Â
Gallagher said a IB verification visit for the Middle Years Program is likely in late winter or early spring of 2014.Â
"All secondary teachers and administrators have completed one-day training and more than 60 have participated in three-day training to prepare them to teach courses using IB practices and principles," she said in the newsletter.
Other staff also attended symposiums on IB principles and then shared their knowledge with their colleagues, she said. The current curriculum for sixth through 10th grade already incorporates the Middle Years Program philosophy.Â
