Northville Rowing Club Novices Lead The Way
The team is next headed to Orchard Lake to compete in the Head of the Orchard Regatta on Oct. 6.

On Sept. 29 Northville Rowing Club (NRC) traveled to Grand Rapids to compete against teams from across Michigan in the 20th annual Grand River Challenge Head Regatta, on the Grand River.
Northville entered ten boats in eight events, with all teams racing a distance of 5km (3.1 miles) upstream. Beautiful weather and light winds made for perfect racing conditions, while river hazards, due to low water levels, made for some challenging races.
While all of the Northville boats performed very well, with several missing the medal stand by mere 10ths of a second, it was the novice boats that lead the way to the medal stand.
A gold medal was awarded to the Women’s Novice 8+ boat with a time of 16:58.0. The boat was comprised of rowers Megan Ashley, Kayla Ulman, Sree Lanka, Suhita Chandrasekharuni, Harmony Murray, Lakshmi Thulluri, Vaishnavi Aradhyula, Erica Meister and coxswain Sangini Tolia.
The Mixed Novice 8+ boat with Mrinnal Muralidhar, Kyle Westfall, Alex King, Adam Steslicki, Megan Ashley, Suhita Chandrasekharuni, Sree Lanka, Lakshmi Thulluri and Coxswain Sangini Tolia, rowed hard to bring home a silver medal in a time of 20:56.0.
NRC continues to train this week and heads to Orchard Lake to compete in the Head of the Orchard Regatta on Oct. 6, 2012.
