Olga’s Kitchen, an iconic Michigan brand owned and operated by Livonia-based TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants (TSFR), is celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8 with free Snackers® for women throughout the day.

A day set aside to commemorate women’s achievements, Olga’s Kitchen and its 27 locations throughout the state will join the movement by offering women a free side of Snackers with any purchase. This day is particularly special for the brand as Olga’s Kitchen is most notably known for its founder’s innovative restaurant concept, which offers three generations of guests signature menu items, including Olga Bread and The Original Olga®. In her journey to starting Olga’s Kitchen, Loizon became the first women to receive a business loan from her local bank, as well as was among one of the first female in metro Detroit to own her own business.

“Olga Loizon was a pioneer in the restaurant industry, providing women with the inspiration needed to continue to break barriers in pursuit of their dreams and passions,” said Loredana Gianino, marketing manager of Olga’s Kitchen. “As we honor Olga’s legacy, we wanted to open our kitchen and recognize moms, women entrepreneurs and our future female leaders on International Women’s Day with a token of our appreciation. Olga is proof that anything is achievable, and Olga’s Kitchen is here to serve as a source of encouragement for women following in her footsteps.”

In addition to celebrating the lives of local women, Olga’s Kitchen is committed to giving back to women in business. Earlier this year, Olga’s Kitchen and TSFR announced the launch of the Olga, A Life Wrapped in Love Foundation following the passing of Loizon. The foundation was established to provide financial support to women entrepreneurs like Loizon in their pursuit of starting the state’s next iconic business. The foundation aims to provide grants ranging between $5,000 and $10,000. More information on the foundation can be found here.
