Police Arrest 18-Year-Old on Charges of Possessing Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia

Northville Township police arrested an 18-year-old Garden City man on charges of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia around 2 a.m. Nov. 11, according to a police report.

An officer stopped the driver of a 2002 Ford Focus, near Haggerty and Six Mile roads, after seeing that the front driver’s side window was tinted, the report said.  

The officer smelled marijuana from inside the vehicle. The driver said he had an empty baggie and eventually said there was a bag of marijuana in the trunk, according to the report. The officer found a mason jar containing 25 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, about 100 small plastic bags and two pill bottles in the trunk, the report said.

The man said he was holding the marijuana for a friend of his, the report said. He admitted that he and his friends — a 15-year-old girl from Garden City and a 15-year-old boy from Garden City — smoked marijuana earlier and that is why he had the empty bag, according to the report. 

The officer arrested the man. He paid a $267 cash bond and was issued an appearance citation for possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia and having tinted windows, the report said.
