West Bloomfield Dad Roughed Up Teen Soccer Ref, 16: Police
Upset parent is accused of shoving and throwing a cup at 16-year-old soccer referee in Waza Football Club, Canton Celtic Soccer Club match.
NORTHVILLE TOWNSHIP, MI – A 41-year-old West Bloomfield dad was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor assault after he allegedly shoved and threw a cup at a 16-year-old referee Saturday in Northville Township, police said.
After the referee called a foul on a player on his son’s team, the West Bloomfield man left the stands and approached the referee on the field, where they argued, police said.
The match between Waza Football Club and Canton Celtic Soccer Club, played at the Northville Christian Assembly Church, ended after the alleged assault, police said.

He was released on $500 cash bond, according to the news release, and will be arraigned in Plymouth 35th District Court on June 15.

Misdemeanor assault is punishable by up to 93 days in jail, as well as a possible fine.
