70-Year-Old Novi Man Drives into 7-Eleven
The man drove through the front of the 7-Eleven on Meadowbrook Road in Novi.

Employees at Novi's 7-Eleven were in for a surprise Wednesday morning when a 70-year-old man drove into the front of the building.
The man, of Novi, was parking in front of the business, on Meadowbrook Road south of Ten Mile Road, around 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, said Novi Assistant Police Chief Jerrod Hart.
"His foot slipped and he hit the gas," he said.
That caused him to drive a couple of feet into the building, at 24111 Meadowbrook Road, through the glass. There were no injuries, Hart said. Although the store sustained damage, he said city officials determined the building was structurally sound.Â
"They were never closed for business," he said.
The man was not given a ticket but was issued a Request for Driver Evaluation (OC-88) form. Hart said it's a request through the Secretary of State to review a person's ability to operate a vehicle.Â
According to a 7-Eleven employee, the damaged area is boarded up until permanent repairs can be made.Â
