Academy Gives Kids a Chance to be a Firefighter or Police Officer

Applications are being accepted for the youth police and fire academy thats starts July 14 through July 18.

The Novi Police and Fire Department wants to educate youth on the importance of being well informed and ready for unexpected situations within their communities.

“It is not every day that people get to see the operations of these two departments and just how these services impact them,” David E. Molloy, Novi’s director of public safety and chief of police. “It is our hope that each academy graduate will not only walk away with a deeper knowledge of these public safety services, but also develop into positive leaders within the Novi community and beyond.”

Police will teach attendees about use of force, K-9 programs, patrol operations, traffic stops and more during the week course, reports the Observer & Eccentric.
