Boyfriend Charged In Stabbing Death Of Novi Woman: Police

The man's girlfriend was found on her kitchen floor with multiple cuts and stab wounds, police say.

NOVI, MI – The boyfriend of a woman found dead in her Indiana Avenue home has been charged in her death. Police allege that Jay Allen Burnett, 34, of Novi, stabbed his girlfriend, Jamie McManaman, 38, to death on Monday.

Burnett has been arraigned on a charge of premeditated first-degree homicide. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Novi police went to McManaman's home in the 26000-block of Indiana Avenue in the Novi Meadows neighborhood on Monday morning. They found her body on the floor in the kitchen. Burnett turned himself into the Michigan State Police at 11:30 p.m. on Monday night, police said. Police were actively looking for him. He is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Wednesday, Aug. 22.
