Detroit Country Day School annual Celebrate the Arts Festival

Artistic masterpieces and performances to showcase talents of DCDS students

Detroit Country Day School (DCDS) is set to host its annual Celebrate the Arts Festival with award-winning artwork, original student films, music and theater performances, with the main event set for 12-4 p.m. on April 28. Additional events and activities will take place from April 17 to May 23.

“At DCDS, we impart a deep love and appreciation for the arts, making it an integral part of our students’ education,” said Glen P. Shilling, DCDS Headmaster. “This annual festival is a way for our families and the local community to recognize our student’s passion and skills in the visual, performing, and communication arts. We are continually impressed by how this series of events showcases an exemplary level of mastery and creativity that our students possess.”

The Sunday, April 28 event for the Celebrate the Arts festival will feature senior Conservatory exhibits and an impressive collection of award-winning student artwork from all age groups and in all mediums from paintings to sculptures to hand-crafted jewelry, as well as musical and theater performances and previews of student films. The Upper School student film festival is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 from 7-9 p.m. Other performances throughout the festival include an Honors Symphonic Orchestra performance, theater performance of Steel Magnolias, and instrumental and choral concerts.
