Free Concert Planned For Novi

Free concert set for May.

From Madrigal Chorale: Madrigal Chorale closes out its 2016-17 season with a three-concert run of free community concerts on Sunday, May 21, celebrating the ways “home” is defined in the community. The program, “Visions of Home,” builds on the Chorale’s seasonal themes present in its earlier “Visions of Peace” and “Visions of Love” programs with performances that explore the many definitions of “home” in different communities across metro Detroit.

“This performance gives the audience a new way of looking at what ‘home’ means to other people,” said Robin Fielder, Strategic Planning Chair for Madrigal Chorale. “It’s not necessarily a place, but more of a headspace in which an individual feels at peace and complete.”

Madrigal Chorale will travel to three locations on May 21: Sisters of Mercy in Farmington Hills after morning Mass, the John D. Dingell Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Detroit for a 2 p.m. concert and the Fox Run Performing Arts Center in Novi for a 7 p.m. performance.

“‘Visions of Home’ is designed to give back to those who have serviced us, whether it be a life of religious service or serving our country and defending our freedom,” said Dr. Robert A. Martin, the Chorale’s Artistic Director. “It’s a unique approach to benefiting others, and traveling to these places allows us to highlight the comfort and inspiration associated with where we define our sense of home.”

In addition to its goal of engaging audiences to think about their community’s numerous definitions of “home,” “Visions of Home” represents the Chorale’s first effort to bring musical experiences to groups that may not have easy access to their performances.

“These concerts are just our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the different communities by doing something special, especially for the Sisters and veterans,” said Fielder. “We hope audience members will change their perception of ‘home’ and that they have a wonderful, warm feeling from the songs we perform.”
