Novi High Students ‘Seal The Deal’ At The Big Salad

The program teaches high school students real-life business lessons while inspiring their creativity.

NOVI, Mich., December 11, 2017 – Teams of marketing students from Novi High School are competing for top honors in a reality-based learning project sponsored by a local restaurant.

Teaming with high school juniors and seniors and their teacher Robert Armstrong, The Big Salad recently completed its latest edition of Seal the Deal – a semester-long, learning program empowering students to create their own menu creations for The Big Salad, then market it to success.

For more than a decade, The Big Salad has played the role of educator, helping aspiring entrepreneurs in metro Detroit to own a small business in the instructive environment of franchise ownership. The program teaches high school students real-life business lessons while inspiring their creativity.

It’s the first time The Big Salad has brought its educational program to Novi High School. This week, the four Novi High teams will be selling their product at The Big Salad in Novi, located at 43168 Grand River Avenue.

Each group has its own day when their menu item will be on sale to the public from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. First up is the Chicken BLT Salad, created by seniors Josh Brucker, Peter Koomen, Neha Challa, and juniors Hunter Goodman and Evan Barthlow.

The student menu items are all priced at $7.99. Below is the complete sales schedule:

Tuesday, Dec. 12 – THE CHICKEN BLT SALAD by seniors Josh Brucker, Peter Koomen, Neha Challa, and juniors Hunter Goodman and Evan Barthlow.

Wednesday, Dec. 13 – THE BIG BALLER WRAP by seniors Toshio Shimazaki, Austin Mackay, Lauren Murphy, Tyler Vankirk, and Johnny Bean.

Thursday, Dec. 14 – NO.VI SANDWICH by seniors Alec Girigosian, Eliza Ivazaj, Zack Cook, Hunter Wallace and Michelle Liu.

Friday, Dec. 15 – MEDITERRANEAN MANIA by seniors Vamsi Chaparala, Robert Chen, Ashley Hofelich, Mikayla Lynch and Riely Schultz.
