Novi Police Department's Mark Boody Graduates From EMU Staff and Command School
Boody was among a group of 50 law enforcement professionals that graduated.

From The City of Novi: Novi Police Sergeant Mark Boody was among a group of 50 law enforcement professionals representing 37 communities throughout Michigan who graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command at Eastern Michigan University last weekend.
The nine-month program provides upper-level academic instruction in a total of five core, or mandatory blocks of instruction and utilizes over 30 additional optional blocks of instruction during each session.
“The SPSC program was a great opportunity for me to enhance my leadership and problem solving skills,” Boody said. “I look forward to bringing new information back to the Novi Police Department and sharing it throughout the organization.”

Major topics of study include leadership development, planning and decision making, human resource management, administration of the police agency, and critical incidents and homeland security. The program has graduated over 2,000 students since its creation in 1985.
“I am extremely proud of Sergeant Boody’s professional and leadership accomplishments,” said Novi’s Director of Public Safety/Chief of Police David E. Molloy. “The Staff and Command program provides students with the education and training needed to strengthen their capabilities with the Novi Police Department, while also enhancing resources to the citizens of Novi.”

Boody began his career with the Novi Police Department in 1996 after graduating from Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to being promoted to the rank of sergeant he served as an investigator for 10 years. Boody excelled as a child abuse investigator, becoming a leading expert in the field.
