Novi School District Looks For New Board Member

A vacancy on the school board was created when one member resigned on Feb. 1.

NOVI, MI – The Novi Community School District board is accepting applications for community members interested in filling a vacant seat vacated by board member Ann Glubzinski, who announced her resignation on Feb. 1. The term will continue through Dec. 31.

The school board will accept applications for the position through 4 p.m. on Friday, March 23. Glubzinski, who is vice president on the board, will resign effective March 16.

Applicants must reside in the school district, and be registered voters and U.S. citizens. Interested citizens must contact the Superintendent’s office at (248) 449-1204, and then submit an application to the Educational Services Building, 25345 Taft Road, Novi, MI 48374-2423.

The Board of Education will review applications from March 23-28. They will then hold public interviews during a special Board meeting on Thursday, March 29, before voting on the candidates at the April 12 meeting.

It is an expectation of the Novi Community School District Board of Education that all potential appointees file to run for election to the open seat in the Nov. 6 election. The trustee seat is a six-year term.

School district residents may get on the ballot in one of two ways:

1. Pay $100 at the Novi City Clerk’s office at the Civic Center, on 10 Mile between Taft and Novi Roads.
2. Pick up petition forms at the Novi City Clerk’s office and collect and submit 40 signatures from school district voters.
Deadline to file to get on the November ballot is Tuesday, July 22. More information on the electoral process is available online.
