Novi Schools' Employees Hold Food Drive

Novi schools employees held a food drive earlier this month to benefit Lighthouse of Oakland County

From Novi Schools: Earlier this month, a group of Novi Schools employees held a food drive to support Lighthouse of Oakland County.

The Novi Educational Support Personnel Association – which represents 90 secretaries, para-professionals and CARE leaders in the Novi Community School District – sponsored NESPA Gives Back, a 16-day food drive to help feed hungry families in the county.

“This is our first food drive and we are going to continue throughout the year supporting other such organizations,” said Sandy Brasil, NESPA president.

The district employees managed to collect enough food to fill six large boxes and eight grocery bags that were then delivered to Lighthouse on Nov. 17.

With offices in Pontiac and Clarkston, Lighthouse of Oakland County provides both short-term emergency assistance and a wide range of support and services that are designed to help families become economically self-sufficient.

NESPA plans to continue its support of Lighthouse, as well as Haven of Oakland County, which helps victims of domestic and sexual violence on their road to recovery.
