Novi Stays Ahead of Weekend Winter Storm

Snow removal crews worked early Saturday morning to clear the roads.

The weekend's winter storm dumped several inches of snow on Novi, but the city was on top of the wintry mess.

The city's Department of Public Services (DPS) pre-treated major roads in the city with liquid salt brine. Plow trucks were also ready to go — as seen in the photo above — and "fully-trained DPS snow fighters" were on standby, according to an update around 4:30 p.m. Friday to the city's Facebook page.

Crews cleared major roadways early Saturday morning and the city anticipated neighborhood street cleaning after the storm ended, according to another update around 10 a.m. Saturday

"With snow showers slowing down overnight, DPS was able to dedicate some plow truck operators from major roadways to getting your neighborhood roadways cleared," read an update posted Sunday morning.

Trucks were to continue clearing snow in neighborhoods throughout the day and return Monday for a second pass. With more snow expected Monday night and Tuesday, the city's action was necessary in preventing build-up of packed snow and ice.
