Police Arrest Livonia Man on Charges of Driving Under the Influence

Novi police arrested a Livonia man around 2 a.m. Sept. 15 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a police report.

The driver of a black Ford Focus made a wide right turn from Grand River Avenue onto northbound Novi Road and nearly struck an officer’s vehicle in the left turn lane, the report said. 

The officer stopped the driver and could smell intoxicants, according to the report. The man, whose eyes were red and watery, said he was in downtown Novi at 29 Park where he had a few drinks, the report said.

The officer conducted several sobriety tests. The man’s preliminary breathalyzer test had a result of .139 percent blood alcohol content, according to the report. The legal limit is .08 percent.

The officer arrested the man. He paid a $100 cash bond and had a hearing Sept. 23 at 52-1 District Court, the report said.
