SEA LIFE Aquarium Opens Applications for Conservation Program

Aquarium offering high school students the opportunity to go behind the scenes and interact with their family of sea creatures

SEA LIFE Michigan at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets, will be opening their doors to high school students this fall with an exciting opportunity to work with hundreds of sea creatures for their Careers in Conservation program. Applications are now open on SEA LIFE Michigan's Facebook page through Sunday, Oct. 22.

Accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, SEA LIFE will be opening applications to all qualified high school students for the chance to assist their aquarists in keeping the many species of underwater creatures at the attraction happy and healthy. Students can submit a resume and a brief essay on why they are right for the job through the Facebook page. A total of five students will be chosen to attend the program on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

"At SEA LIFE Michigan we are dedicated to conservation and protecting wildlife and are excited to share what we do with a unique behind the scenes look for our next generation of caretakers and professionals," said Kelli Cadenas, SEA LIFE Michigan displays curator. "Since we have had such a great success with our spring Career in Conservation days, we wanted to welcome more students to the aquarium this fall for this educational and insightful experience. We look forward to teaching students the correct techniques on caring for our creatures and creating healthy and engaging environments for them to live and grow. This special day gives youth a taste of what pursuing a career that protects and fortifies our oceans and unique wildlife would offer."
