County Closes Flooded Bridge in Orion Township
Oakland County has closed a bridge currently under water as the region battles flooding.

Oakland County released a bulletin Friday closing the one lane bridge in Orion Township on Golden Gate Road. The bridge is the access points for the dozen homes located on the private section of Golden Gate. The bridge crosses Paint Creek. The bridge had to be closed because it’s under water, making it unsafe for travel.
Orion Township officials say they are working with residents of the affected homes and will continue to be on the scene, assessing the situation. The County has no estimate about when the bridge will reopen to traffic.
The Orion Township Fire Department has a utility vehicle in the area to help in the event of an emergency. Since the National Weather Service issued a flood watch Monday, the region has faced flooding, causing bridges to close in Lansing, and ramps to I-696 from I-74 and parts of US 24 to close while MDOT addresses many deep water-filled potholes like ones in St. Clair Shores that disabled fifteen cars Monday night, which closed the ramp and caused stranded drivers to wait hours to get off the highway.
