
A dedication ceremony for the recently restored is planned for this Friday and includes farm tours, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a free concert on the porch of the farmhouse.
Oakland Township Historical Society (OTHS) and Historic District Commission (HDC) members will lead the tours of the farm beginning at 5 p.m. At 6 p.m., brief dedication ceremony will highlight the project with a ribbon cutting followed by cake and refreshments. The OTHS will also be selling hot dogs.
At 7 p.m. the will perform on the east porch of the main house with seating on the lawn. The concert is sponsored by the Oakland Township Parks and Recreation Commission.

The Oakland Township Historic District Commission has spent the last two years working on the development of for restoration, rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the historic site listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Two ADA-accessible ramps are complete with access into the caretaker’s house and the main house.
“The commissioners spent hundreds of hours researching and attending meetings with the State Historic Preservation Office, visited several unique historic sites for reference, addressed environmental concerns, and made certain the house would become sustainable with lower energy usage," HDC Administrative Assistant Barb Barber said. "They are an amazingly committed group.”

Barber added the HDC is looking forward to having the farm visited and used by the community.
The HDC is a volunteer board that promotes preservation in Oakland Township. The HDC worked with the architectural firm of Stephen Auger + Associates Architects and the general contractor for the project was Brock & Associates.
