Friends of Rochester Hills Public Library restart used book sales

Operations by appointment only

(Friends of RHPL)

Hey book lovers---good news! Get ready to hunt again for some great literary bargains.

Operating under Covid-19 safety rules that limit access, the Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library have reopened the Used Book Sale Room on the second floor of the Library at 500 Olde Towne Road to the general public.

Here are the ground rules: Entrance is strictly by appointment only. To keep everyone as safe as possible, only 10 customers are allowed in at one time for 30 minutes each. Besides wearing a mask, shoppers will be asked to use hand sanitizer and/or gloves when entering enter the room, and to keep social distance as much as possible. All of the books have been quarantined for a minimum of 3 days and most of them for much longer. Others items---CDs, DVDs and board games---are also available.

Shoppers are also required to spend a minimum of $10. This should not be difficult; there’s a great collection to choose from.

To start with, the Friends are scheduling three shifts each Wednesday or Thursday evening. Depending on the dictates of pandemic regulations, hours, days and perhaps the number of customers at one time may be expanded.

Said Friends Book Chairperson Ann Gruenewald: “This has been a challenging time for us all and we appreciate the patience of our loyal clientele. We have been doing our best with limited resources.” Receipts from the sales are an important income source for the Friends. All proceeds go to augment library programs.
