Rochester Library Used Book sale now by appointment only

Covid=19 restrictions limit sale attendance

(Friends of RHPL)

The Friends of the Rochester Hills Library is resuming used book sales on an appointment-only basis because of Covid-19.

Entry to the library is limited by state regulations so here is how access will be granted to the Library’s second floor used book room at 500 Olde Towne Road in downtown Rochester:

  • For now, sales will be conducted only on Monday and Thursday evenings, with three shifts each night.
  • Only 10 customers will be allowed in at one time for 30 minutes each. Thorough sanitation is done between sessions.
  • To sign up for a time slot, go online to the library website, www.rhpl.org. Scroll to the bottom of the page and under the heading CONNECT, click on Visit the Friends of the RHPL. You can then click on the link to the Calendly website to register for a time slot. Since your appointment time is reserved and there is no need to wait in line, please arrive only five minutes prior to your shopping session. There is no waiting area, and due to COVID restrictions, early arrival is not permitted. If you do arrive earlier, please browse the library stacks of circulating material up until your appointment time. Coming with another person? Please sign up individually so we have an accurate attendance count. If you are unable to use the time slot, please cancel as soon as possible so others can shop.
  • Mask wear is mandatory; patrons will be asked to use hand sanitizer and/or gloves upon entry and to keep social distance as much as possible. (All of the books have been quarantined for a minimum of three days and most of them for much, much longer.)
  • There is a $10 minimum purchase required. This should not be difficult to reach, as the collection is brimming. As donations are processed, books are added to the collection daily. Other inventory includes DVDs, CDs, board games and specialty items.
