Team Schostak Family Restaurants Raises $41,990 for Charities

TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants (TSFR), a Michigan-based family-owned restaurant group with an expansive portfolio of casual, quick service and family dining restaurants throughout the state, and its more than 100 Applebee’s, Olga’s Kitchen, MOD Pizza and Del Taco restaurants raised $41,991 benefiting Make-A-Wish® Michigan, JDRF (formerly known as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) during a one-day, statewide charity challenge on October 28 in honor of Make A Difference Day. TSFR Director of Marketing Barb Pasciak made the announcement.

Throughout the day, guests were able to add a monetary donation to the charity, or charities, of their choice to their bill at each of the 64 TSFR Applebee’s, 27 Olga’s Kitchen, eight MOD Pizza and five Del Taco restaurants. Make-A-Wish® Michigan raised a total of 22,235, including an additional $5,000 donation from TSFR for raising the largest amount of money throughout the day, while JDRF raised $ 10,902 and MDA raised $ 8,854—both including an additional $2,500 donation from TSFR. As part of the charity challenge, in exchange for a donation of $1 or $5 at any of TSFR’s Applebee’s, Olga’s Kitchen, MOD Pizza or Del Taco restaurants, guests received a coupon to use at a later date that is good for a free item from a select menu.

“In our second year of hosting the Make a Difference Day charity challenge, we are thankful to all those who came out to support this great cause and make it a success,” said Pasciak. “As we continue lead the way in our communities and foster relationships with local and statewide organizations, we are proud to give back to our long-time partners Make-A-Wish® Michigan, JDRF and MDA to ensure these inspiring organizations are able to continue making a difference in the lives of others.”

In 2016, TSFR’s first-ever Make a Difference Day event hosted at its Applebee’s restaurants raised more than $39,245 for the participating charities, which included a $10,000 donation from TSFR.
