Teen With Gun Prompts Lake Orion School Closure
A teen who was home on a weekend pass from Oakland County Children's Village ran away and may be armed and dangerous, police said.

LAKE ORION, MI — School buildings in Lake Orion were closed and summer classes were cancelled Monday after a former student was possibly armed in the area. Lake Orion Community Schools said in a Facebook post there had been no threats to buildings or staff, but the buildings were closed as a precaution.
School has dismissed for the summer, but teachers, administrators and staff are typically in the buildings. Parents were told to pick up their children because Monday activities are cancelled.
The 16-year-old ran away and may be in possession of a weapon, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office told the school. He was home on a weekend pass from Oakland County Children’s Village, and left his home between 4:30 and 6 a.m. on foot, WJBK-TV reported.
He is white; is 5 feet, 9 inches tall; weigh 140 pounds and has brown hair. He may have been wearing black shorts, a white shirt and a Detroit Red Wings hoodie. He does not have a car.
The teen doesn’t have a history of violence or threats, according to the report. He was in Children’s Village as a result of another incident in which he was accused of stealing a handgun, which authorities said he planned to sell.
