2 Women Accused of Theft, Eluding Sheriff's Deputies
Sheriff's officials: Women had 2 small children in van while eluding deputies after theft from Meijer in Rochester Hills.

Oakland County Sheriff's deputies arrested two women Sunday who reportedly fled deputies after a theft from Meijer in Rochester Hills, according to an incident report.
According to the report, deputies responded to Meijer at Rochester and Auburn roads for a report of a woman carrying a black duffle bag of what was believed to be stolen merchandise who fled the store on foot toward Auburn Road, where she was picked up by a woman driving a black minivan.Â
Deputies spotted the minivan traveling eastbound on Auburn, the report indicated, and pursued the women, who increased their speed in an apparent attempt to elude deputies. According to the report, the women turned onto a dead end street and stopped.Â
In addition to the two women, the deputies found the vehicle also was occupied by two small children, who were turned over to their grandparents. Child Protective Services was notified about the incident, the report indicated.Â
The woman accused of stealing items from Meijer was identified as a 21-year-old Pontiac resident, and the driver was identified as a 26-year-old Pontiac woman. The two women were lodged at Oakland County Jail pending arraignment, the report indicated.Â
