2013 Brooksie Way: Check the Race Route, Traffic Delays

The sixth annual Brooksie Way Half Marathon will make its way this weekend through Rochester and Rochester Hills.  

The race begins at 8 a.m. Sunday, starting and ending at Oakland University. The race is an opportunity for over 4,000 runners to experience the streets, trails and hospitality of the Rochester area. 

According to Rochester Chief of Police Steve Schettenhelm, the first runners will start arriving in Rochester at approximately 8:30 a.m. and will be leaving the city by 11 a.m. Race marshals and police officers will make every effort to move traffic across the race route when it is safe to do so, he said. There are expected to be longer delays when the bulk of the runners are within the Rochester city limits.

These are areas that can expect longer delays, according to Schettenhelm:

• Street (Letica) between Main and Elizabeth will be temporarily blocked while the runners and walkers head on Second Street to Elizabeth beginning at approximately 8:45 a.m.
• Main and University
• Ludlow and Woodward (at the Paint Creek Trail)
