3 Chances to Hear From Tom McMillin This Month

The Republican representative will host two town hall meetings on property taxes and hold office hours in the district in February.

Tom McMillin, the Republican state representative representing Rochester, Rochester Hills and Oakland Township, invites his consitutents to three events this month.

  • McMillin will hold office hours from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25 at the Rochester Hills City Hall.
  • He will also hold two town hall meetings to discuss property tax assessments. The meetings are designed to help residents understand, evaluate and potentially appear the assessments. They are planned for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18 at the Rochester Hills City Hall; and 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Older Persons' Commission in Rochester.

(UPDATE: The Feb. 18 property tax forum has been canceled, according to a news release issued today by McMillin's office.)

No reservation or appointment is necessary for any of these events.

This year, McMillin returns as chair of the House Oversight Committee while also chairing the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules. He will also serve on the House Committees on Education, Regulatory Reform and a new committee on Financial Liability Reform.

McMillin has also introduced House Joint Resolution D, which would make Michigan's Legislature part time — meeting 90 days a year.  "Our major task, the budget, has been completed early in session for the last two years," McMillin stated in a press release. "A part-time legislature would create an incentive to get the work done quickly, as we have, and then get out of Lansing."
