
Art and Apples kicks off next Friday, Sept. 6 at Rochester Municipal Park. Here are five attractions to look forward to. Register early, where applicable, to make sure you don't miss out!
1. Healthy Kids Fun Run
Get a healthy start to the this year's Art & Apples Festival at the inaugural Healthy Kids Fun Run sponsored by HealthPlus of Michigan. The fun starts at 8:30 a.m. in Rochester Municipal Park on Saturday, Sept. 7, where kids ages 12 and under will gather to run the north loop of the festival.Â
Parents are encouraged to participate with their child. All participants will get a healthy prize at the finish line. Pre-registration is available by downloading the registration form and mailing it to 407 Pine Street, Rochester, MI 48307, or you can register on-site the morning of the event.
2. 7th Annual Apple Pie and Dessert Contest

3. Check Out Local High Schools' Marching Bands
You can catch marching bands from Rochester's three high schools  throughout the weekend. All performances are on the festival's main stage. The schedule is as follows:
- The Stoney Creek High School Cougar Marching Band will perform from 4-5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6.
- The Rochester Adams High School Highlander Marching Band will perform from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7.
- The Rochester High School Falcon Marching Band will perform 1:15-2:15 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8.
While entertainment will be on display all weekend at the festival, a quieter sound can be found at the Oakland University Acoustic Cafe. You can check the schedule here.
