Adams High School Group Receives Grant for Spring Music Residency
The project is one of six to receive funding from Oakland County Arts, Culture & Film grants.
An Adams High School group has been awarded a grant from Oakland County to host a residency project at the school in the spring.
Adams Parents for Instrumental Music is one of six area organizations to share more than $13,000 in grants recently awarded by the Oakland County Arts, Culture & Film through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. Â
The $1,250 grant will help Adams host a residency project with Pro Musica of Detroit, featuring classical guitarist Dimitris Kotronakis, in this spring.Â

The grants are designed to fund "high quality, locally developed projects that increase public access to art and culture," according to a news release.Â
Other Oakland County organizations to receive the awards are:

- Birmingham Education Foundation. They received $2,500 for a residency with the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings at Groves and Seaholm high schools.
- Troy Schools. The district received $3,000 for a Kids n' Motion series for elementary students.
- Waterford Kettering High School. The school received $3,000 for a two-day artistic residency for middle and high school band students by the Motor City Brass Band.Â
- Stagecrafters. The Royal Oak community theater organization received $893 to fund professional development for employees.Â
- Mary Helen Guest Elementary, Walled Lake. They received $2,500 for a songwriting residency for fifth-grade students.Â
