Credit Union ONE closed its doors at Oakland University on Friday.
The university signed a contract with MSU Federal Credut UNion to offer financial services to OU students, staff, faculty and alumni, a statement on the Credit Union One website reads. That branch, which will be named the Oakland University Credit Union, will open Aug. 31 at the location, according to the Oakland Post.Â
While Credit Union ONE will no longer operate out of OU, members can retain their accounts and use the credit union's 17 other branches, though none are based in Rochester Hills. The credit union does, however, have branch offices nearby in Troy, Shelby Township and Sterling Heights. Members also can use shared branching locations (credit union service centers) and more than 28,000 surcharge-free ATMs throughout the U.S., including three on campus, the Oakland Post reported.Â
The Post also reports OUCO announced it is making a nearly $5 million contribution to an endowed scholarship, the Dean's Choice Grant Program.Â
OUCU had been expected to open in 2014, but will open ahead of schedule.
In addition to opening a new OUCU branch in the Oakland Center, providing several ATM locations on campus, offering financial education services and more, MSUFCU will begin operations at its 3265 Five Points Drive branch as Oakland University Credit Union, according to Oakland University.
