The clock is ticking and the calendar days are whipping by.

The big public drawing for the Friends of the Rochester Hills Library 60th anniversary 60/40 raffle is March 20. That’s less than a month away!

For $100 a ticket, you will have a chance to win 40 percent of the total taken in. Sixty percent will go to the Friends to help make up for the loss of, or limitations on, key fund-raising events and operations during the past year due to Covid-19. The Friends is the library’s volunteer arm and raised $170,000 in the 2019-20 fiscal year.

How does it all work? One lucky winner will get 40 percent of the pot created by all ticket buyers. Right now, the pot is about $16.000. So the lucky winner would get $6,400 (minus mandatory tax withholding). Currently, with 160 entries, there is a 1/160 chance of having your ticket be the winner. The drawing will be in the Library’s Multi-purpose room at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 20.

The Friend’s 750-plus membership base received tickets by mail in January. They are reminded to return the ticket stub with a check for $100 ASAP.

And the general public can buy tickets with ease, via two methods while Library building operations are still limited by Covid-19 rules. To purchase tickets online, click on the “Visit the Friends of the RHPL” line in the CONNECT section at rhpl.org to buy a ticket via credit or debit card via Pay Pal. You’ll be mailed an entry confirmation. No computer access? Call 248-650-7176 and leave a message. A Friends rep will facilitate your purchase. And remember---tickets also make a great gift for the proverbial person who has everything.

But don’t dawdle ---March 20 will be here soon and someone else will enjoy a first quarter of 2021 windfall!
