Detroit Area Work Week Weather Forecast: Keep Your Umbrella Handy

Rain will start Monday afternoon and continue most of the week. A rain-snow mix is possible for Thursday night and Friday morning.

METRO DETROIT, MI — Hopefully you got a chance to get out and enjoy the mostly sunny weekend in metropolitan Detroit. If not, well, it’s going to be awhile before the sun reappears. The National Weather Service is calling for rain every day of the coming work week.

Rain is likely to start Monday afternoon and then continue straight through until Wednesday morning. After a brief halt, rain will return Wednesday afternoon and continue through Friday. And, to top it off, it’s possible that snow may mix in within the rain late Thursday night into Friday morning.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. South wind 5 to 7 mph becoming east southeast after midnight.

Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 60. East southeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. Monday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low around 48. East southeast wind around 10 mph becoming south after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tuesday: Showers likely, mainly before 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 57. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible. Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 13 to 18 mph decreasing to 7 to 12 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 28 mph.

Wednesday: Rain likely, mainly after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. Wednesday Night: Rain. Low around 41. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Thursday: Rain likely, mainly before 8am. Cloudy, with a high near 49. Thursday Night: A chance of rain before 5am, then a chance of rain and snow. Cloudy, with a low around 35.

Friday: A chance of rain and snow before 10am, then a chance of rain between 10am and 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47.
